Sporting Chance Summer Slam

History: The Summer Slam has been a tradition in Tucson since 1994. Held on the University of Arizona campus, and soon in the new Sports Center, it is one of the largest tournaments in the Southwest, attracting a diverse mix of teams -- including teams from the Western US and Mexico - that makes it a unique and competitive experience.
General Facts: The Summer Slam is held every year, generally the second or third weekend in July. Games begin Friday afternoon and conclude Sunday early evening. Teams arre guaranteed a minimum of 4 games, We typcially attract 70-90 teams. Team costs is $295.00.
The Summer Slam typically hosts Boys teams comprised of boys who JUST COMPLETED 3rd through 9th grade (i.e., "rising HS sophomore teams" are eligible) and Girls teams in 6th - 10th grade divisions. We are now using NEW AAU AGE/GRADE GUIDELINES to determine playing divisions and player eligibility. Click here to review the applicable age/grade guidelines.
We typcially start marketing and open registration 6-8 weeks before the tournament. Due to limited facility space, and the popularity of the Summer Slam, this tournament sells-out every year.
