About Sporting Chance
The Mission of Sporting Chance is to positively influence the lives of boys and girls by providing youth basketball programs that are appropriate for all skill levels, that are accessible to all families regardless of socio-economic situation, that teach the fundamentals of the game, and that impart positive values that will help develop responsible adults.
Sporting Chance Youth Basketball, Inc. is the most significant youth basketball organization in Southern Arizona. Sporting Chance is a Tucson-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which was founded in 1993, and since then has greatly expanded youth basketball opportunities for Tucson-area youngsters. Through its tournaments, leagues, clinics, teams and other programs, Sporting Chance provides new opportunities for thousands of Southern Arizona youngsters to participate in youth sports and related development programs.
In addition to its tournaments, team program and instructional clinics, Sporting Chance hosts a variety of community events that support a wide cross-section of the Tucson community. These programs include free basketball clinics for underprivileged youth, the "Junior Lame for a Game" that raises money for the Disabled Student Center at the University of Arizona, and the annual "Wildcat Dream Invitational", which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a variety of Tucson area charities, including the Bobbi Olson Cancer Research Fund at the Arizona Cancer Center.
